China's Short Holiday: May Day Holiday 2026/5/1 - 2026/5/5.

The May Day holiday, also known as the International Labor Day holiday, is a statutory public holiday in China. This holiday originated from the struggle of Chicago workers for an eight hour workday in 1886 and was designated as a common holiday of the international proletariat by the Second International in 1889. The Chinese people began to spread this holiday in 1918 and first commemorated it on a large scale in 1920. In December 1949, it was designated as the statutory Labor Day by the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China.

Chinese people usually take their families on short holidays, so tourist attractions during holidays are usually crowded with people.
